Fluor Corporation has received a notice-to-proceed on the second phase of the 170 MW Centinela Solar Energy Facility from Centinela Solar Energy, LLC.

Fluor was awarded an EPC contract to construct the 170 MW photovoltaic plant in southern California by Centinela Solar Energy last September. Construction on the first phase, worth 125 MW, began last December.

Overall, the plant is expected to be fully operational by mid-2014. It will be one of the first projects to be connected to the Sunrise Powerlink Transmission Line. Meanwhile, the generated electricity will be supplied to San Diego Gas & Electric under a 20 year PPA.
