Ontario opens window for PV rooftop permit applications

The Ontario Power Authority is accepting applications for small photovoltaic projects from today.SkyPower
The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) today ended a long period of uncertainty over its FIT plans when it opened the application window for small photovoltaic projects, with capacities of 10 to 500 kW.
As expected, the provincial power authority will approve up to 200 kW of new and existing applications, although legacy applications will have to re-submit their proposals in the light of changes to the FIT regime announced on November 23 and on December 11. The official announcement did not specify when the window for applications will close.
The OPA is already accepting applications for household systems of up to 10 kW up to a maximum 50 MW capacity, having opened the microfit application window last Friday.
In the microfit category, re-submitted historic applications will be given precedence over new systems.
The OPA is yet to announce when the largest, ground-mounted, category – for systems larger than 500 kW – window will be opened, or what the maximum capacity of permits available will be for these utility-scale applications.

Hey....we're not holding our breath up here on this one! In typical Ontario Power Authority style, the window is slated to open today, but we do not know the finalised rules and regulations on qualifying applicants, nor do we know what the tariff rate applicable will be to them (THAT was placed 'under review' on November 1st, even though the whole over 10 kW portion of our programme has been inactive since November 1st 2011 !!!)
We suffered through an entire year of 'Paralysis through analysis'; now we are expected to pull off magic tricks as an industry to coax application fees from interested parties when we can't tell the if they will qualify or what rate they will get so we can try and secure some of the 200MW allocation!
