The Saudi Arabia Solar Industry Association (SASIA) has introduced a new vocational training program to equip the region to make the most of its growing solar market.

SASIA has teamed up with U.S. solar training company Solar Energy International (SEI) to run the Technical Solar Training Program, which is aimed at training and educating engineers, designers and photovoltaic decision makers in the kingdom and wider Middle East region.

The program is a mix of online tutorials and taught workshops with initial one-day courses in ‘technical considerations for commercial and utility sized systems' being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on September 9 and Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, two days later.

The new training program will be showcased at the SASIA stand at Intersolar Europe from June 19-21 and the association will also have details of the Women in Solar initiative it has been running since January.

The initiative comprises two groups on social media website LinkedIn, one of which is specifically targeted at women working in the solar industry.
